*What is happening?* Starting at 6AM Sunday morning we will be replacing mail.maine.edu ( mx-3.its.maine.edu) with a new machine (lv-o-mx-7.its.maine.edu) running an up to date operating system. This machine provides mail relay for many machines and mail forwarding for a number of domains and proxies links to some ID management functions. During this maintenance these will be briefly unavailable. *How long will it take?* We expect the changeover to take about 20 minutes, but are reserving an hour in case there are issues. *Why is this work necessary?* For security and support reasons we need to keep our systems running on recent well supported operating systems. What happens if the work is not successful? We will switch back to using the old machine and try again at a later date.
