I seem to recall teams having to switch ends half way through periods to make it fair. Images and recollection of pond hockey come to mind.

What I remember is that we had a short time for the Hockey-L Banquet. There were some who hustled to get back for a game that was already delayed. I could have used that hour with conversation and beer instead of a dry college stadium.
