If your going to pay them, why not just have an affiliated athletic organization completely divorced from academia. They can wear the school uniform.

So it looks like Sparty has "innovated", signing a deal so that their men's squeakball team is the "MSU Spartans Presented by Rocket Mortage".

Having opened the can of worms, it is only a matter of time before this comes to college hockey.
