Hello MEEOA!

Please consider presenting at the NEOA Conference in April. The conference promises to be an exciting format with themed days and opportunities for new connections. And, if registration is anything like our MEEOA Conference or TRIO Days, it is likely to be as big or bigger than ever.

Happy Friday!
Mary

Hello Amazing People!

We just know you have some thoughts about engaging opportunities for the upcoming NEOA Conference! Thank you to those that have submitted proposals already! If you have thought of submitting a proposal, or even if you have not thought of it, below is the NEOA Call for Proposals for this year’s Conference:

The NEOA Annual Conference Committee invites you to submit a proposal for best practices and professional development opportunities that will take place on Wednesday, April 7th, & Thursday, April 8th, 2021.  Proposals will be evaluated, in part, based on their relevance to this year’s conference theme, Re-Envisioning Educational Opportunity, and on the 4 themes for our professional development sessions. The committee invites you to submit a proposal to present in one or more 45-minute sessions. We seek engaging, interactive and informal presentations where the presenter helps attendees solve problems or develop strategies related to the theme.

Deadline: February 12, 2021

New for 2021! Following each theme session, there will be a programmatic roundtable where conference participants will be encouraged to discuss, share, learn and provide the collaborative space to re-envision our programs. In addition to professional development proposals, we are also seeking volunteers to facilitate these roundtable sessions.

Themes:
Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion
In 2020, the NEOA Board of Directors issued a press release calling attention to the fight to eradicate inequality and to advancing our long-cherished values of educational opportunity. We are calling for proposals that provide opportunities to explore how we can be consistently working towards these goals of advancing equal educational opportunity and promoting diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion within NEOA, in our individual programs and in our daily lives.

Student & Staff Wellness: Averting crisis and navigating the new normal
Each new graduating class yields a different set of needs to best support them. While we may not know exactly what they need, we do know that it is critical for our students, and staff, to feel connected to a supportive community to help support their academic and personal well-being. We are calling for proposals that will explore resources and activities that will strengthen our programs and expand our personal wellness toolbox.

Remote Possibilities: How a Pandemic sparked Creativity
Amidst all of the chaos that 2020 has brought, it also has afforded us plenty of opportunities to be creative, resourceful, and resilient.  We are calling for proposals that will offer best practices and professional development training focused on technology and other creative remote programming opportunities that we should bring with us into 2021.

Personal Growth: Development of Educational Opportunity Professionals
The goal of this theme is to provide professional development and training opportunities for educational opportunity professionals.  We are calling for proposals that will offer best practices, provide opportunities for growth, and expand the personal toolkits of new professionals, emerging leaders, and seasoned veterans.
