Well, first things first:  Happy Winter!
Yes, today is the December solstice.  The first day of winter in the
Northern Hemisphere.   The first day of summer for the Southern
Hemisphere.   Even though the daylight duration will start to increase, the
sunrise time will continue to increase until early January.  Conversely,
the earliest sunset occurred about two weeks ago.

As winter begins, the Remote Planetarium ends.
