*What is happening?* Starting at 6AM on Sunday November 22nd. We will apply updates to and restart o <http://nameo.its.maine.edu/>ur LDAP servers. We will also take this opportunity to defragment the LDAP databases. The affected machines are LV-O-LDAP-M, LV-O-LDAP-B, NameO, and NameP. We will do these one at a time so no more than one server will be unavailable at a time. Most services should be unaffected since we run redundant LDAP servers. Password changes may be delayed while an LDAP server is down. *How long will it take?* We expect this work to take less than 15 minutes per LDAP server. *Why is this work necessary?* For security and support reasons we need to keep our systems running on recent well supported operating systems. From time to time the LDAP database becomes fragmented and must be rebuilt to maintain performance. What happens if the work is not successful? We will back out to the previous configuration on these machines.
