We were just playing around with using breakout rooms in Google Meet so teachers can send one link to all parents. This worked for the most part. We just had anonymous users allowed this week. If an anonymous user joins a Google Meet they can not be placed in a breakout room.

Our thought is to have the teacher connect to the Meet with their laptop and iPad. The iPad will screen share (microphone muted) a slide stating they are in a meeting with another parent and to sit tight. That may not be necessary since the next parent will not be able to get in until the teacher admits them since they are outside of the domain.

Still working this out but seems to be a good solution to Meets not having a waiting room per se.

We are going to have all the teachers in a google doc and email it out to all the parents. They will sign up for a time via PTCFast then  when it is conference time - go to the doc, find the teacher and click on the zoom  link . The teachers will all have their waiting rooms on with a message.
It will be an experiment having obviously never done it this way before.

I think this is where having Class Dojo and only one primary teacher makes life easy for the parents.  I am not sure how you could do this!

Subject: Parent/Teacher Conference Link Sharing

Greetings-

We’re thinking about our Parent/Teacher conferences via Zoom this year and the best ways to share a link.

I think using the Personal Meeting ID will simplify it for teachers, but how to get the links in an accessible place for parents without posting on the web…. (We’ve already been Zoom bombed once…)

If each teacher emails it out… then parents have to make sure they can find the 6 or 7 emails from various teachers to make it to a conference…

And if our secretary sends out a list to each parent or puts it in sign-up genius, they’d need to get the links and passwords from each teacher….

What are others doing this year?
