*What is happening?* Starting at 6AM Sunday August 30th at 6AM we will apply security updates to LV-O-LDAP-M.its.maine.edu and reboot it. We anticipate the machine being down for less than 5 minutes. This machine is the primary LDAP server. Most services should be unaffected since all queries are done against the replica servers, however, password changes may be delayed a few minutes during this maintenance. *How long will it take?* We expect this work to take about 10 minutes As mentioned above, the actual outage of service should be much shorter. *Why is this work necessary?* For security and support reasons we need to keep our systems running on recent well supported operating systems and standards. What happens if the work is not successful? We will back out to snapshots of this machine taken prior to application of the changes.
