*What is happening?* Starting at 6AM on Sunday August 16th. We will apply updates to and restart lv-o-ldap-b.its.maine.edu, also known as ldap-b.its.maine.edu. We will also take this opportunity to defragment the LDAP database and put a new SSL certificate in place. Most services should be unaffected since this LDAP server is used mostly for bulk operations. *How long will it take?* We expect this work to take less than 15 minutes. *Why is this work necessary?* For security and support reasons we need to keep our systems running on recent well supported operating systems. From time to time the LDAP database becomes fragmented and must be rebuilt to maintain performance. SSL certificates expire at regular intervals and need to be replaced ahead of expiration. What happens if the work is not successful? We will back out to the previous configuration on this machine.
