*What is happening?* On Sunday, July 12th, from 5 am - 8am, the UMS Account Self Service will have application updates and upgrades installed. The self service systems should be available during the majority of this window, but there may be issues and error messages as the upgrade work progresses. Account holders who receive an error message or experience issues during the maintenance period should retry the operation. *Why is this work necessary?* This work will install some back end updates and roll out the "external email" password recovery process. With this new process, account holders will be able to reset their passwords by sending an password reset code to an known external email address. The Password Recovery/Reset page <https://gojira.its.maine.edu/confluence/x/fQDXAQ> in the Technology Support knowledge base will be updated with the instructions for the new process as part of the update process. *What happens if the work is not successful?* If necessary, the changes will be rolled back.
