*What is happening?* Starting at 6AM Sunday morning we will be optimizing the LDAP databases on our LDAP servers and then we will apply security updates and reboot. We will do these one at a time so no more than one is down at any time. Most services should be unaffected since we have redundant LDAP servers, however There may be brief interruptions in the ability to log in to some services. There may be a delay in password changes being made effective. *How long will it take?* We expect this work to take 15 tot 20 minutes per LDAP server (we have 4). We are reserving additional time in case problems arise. *Why is this work necessary?* From time to time LDAP databases becomes fragmented and must be rebuilt to maintain performance. For security and support reasons we need to keep our systems running on recent well supported operating systems. What happens if the work is not successful? We will back out to snapshots of these machines taken prior to application of the changes.
