Here are the final results for the Pick
the Post-season Tournaments
Contest #2. For Contest #2, in which all rounds are scored the
same,
the overall winner is...
Nathan Hampton
whose 26 points edged out Scott Kaplan and John Edwards by two.
Congratulations, Nathan!
As for the individual conference winners...
The ECAC saw a six-way tie among John Edwards, Andy Weise, William
Sangrey, Scott Kaplan, Nathan Hampton, and Tony Buffa, with 6 points
each. As there was no championship game played, the first
tiebreaker
(championship game score) was not used. John took the second
tie-
breaker with a total-goals prediction that was 10 goals closer than
anyone else's.
Andy Weise, Nathan Hampton, and myself finished tied atop the WCHA
with 8 points each. Andy took the tiebreaker, and the top spot,
by
four goals in the total-goals prediction.
Atlantic Hockey saw another six-way tie, this one among John
Edwards,
William Sangrey, Mark Lewin, Scott Kaplan, Nathan Hampton, and Tony
Buffa at 6 points each. Once again, John took the crown, with
a
total-goals prediction that was five goals closer than his
competitors.
Yet another tie in the Big Ten, with John Edwards, William Sangrey,
Nathan Hampton, and Scott Kaplan each finishing with 6 points.
John
took the top spot in this one as well, by 14 in the total-goals tie-
breaker.
The Hockey East and NCHC tournaments did not have any games
played.
Complete scoring results are below. Congratulations to all the
winners,
and thanks again to all those who participated.
Tiebreaker notes: As there were no championship games, the first
tie-
breaker (the difference between your predicted championship-game
score
and the actual score) was not used.
The second tiebreaker was the difference between your predicted total
of
goals scored in the entire tournament and the actual number. The
lower
the point total the better.
As far as tiebreakers that were actually needed:
For the ECAC, the total goals scored in the tournament was 51.
For the WCHA, the total goals scored in the tournament was 52.
For Atlantic Hockey, the total goals scored in the tournament was
36.
For the ECAC, the total goals scored in the tournament was 28.
The USCHO prognosticators' numbers are included below, as are the
"Higher
Seed" picks showing what would have happened if the higher seed for
each
game had been picked to win.
Again, everyone please be safe, and take care.
