As of a short time ago the fiber break in Massachusetts has been repaired and all network traffic has restored to standard paths in southern Maine. Users may have noticed a brief interruption as routing normalized. We will continue to monitor for any issues, however at this time all network services are operating normally. Work is underway to repair the fiber, however at this time we do not have an ETA. So far we have not seen any congestion on our remaining links so things should be running normally. All network services have failed over to Internet and Internet2 paths in Orono, however users may have noticed a brief period of outage while services re-routed. All network services should now be restored to normal operation, however overall capacity is reduced in the current configuration, so it is possible some congestion may be encountered until the Portland paths are returned to service. The cause of the outage is currently under investigation, although weather is a likely root cause. Updates will be provided as soon as additional information is available.
