The USGS National Geospatial Program has released a new application called Markup. Markup is a web-based mapping communication tool that allows users to suggest edits, or “markups”, to the NHD, WBD, and NHDPlus HR. Anyone with a gmail account can suggest corrections and improvements to the data. The application has been designed to work in the Chrome web browser only.
Suggested edits will be reviewed by the USGS and the NHD state stewards before they are approved for incorporation into the NHD or WBD datasets and future NHDPlus HR refresh products. Markup review and status changes will be handled through the Markup Reviewer tool, an ArcGIS Add-in tool available to NHD and WBD stewards and editors.

A video is available to show you how to use the Markup Application. The video was produced at the Maine USGS Office based on a script developed by our regional NHD POC.

The video is part of a larger effort being undertaken by National Map Liaisons to produce videos to explain and show folks how to use products and services from The National Map.
