We will have a great track of GIS talks with a luncheon keynote from UMA's Dan Leclair on UAV/Drone Regulation.  We will also huddle up at the end of the day for a brief MEGUG meeting. 

12:45 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Luncheon Address: The Regulatory Climate of Unmanned Aircraft Systems
The Federal Regulations allow for the use of unmanned aircrafts (drones) under three different rules of pilot certification, aircraft registration, and UAS operations. As a government agency, business, or individual which is the best set of rules to comply with? Dan Leclair will discuss the advantages and pitfalls of flying unmanned aircraft certifying under:

We will also discuss how the citizens of Maine have adopted these rules and how they are using these unmanned aircrafts to do business.

About the Presenter: Col Daniel (Dan) Leclair is the Director of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Education and Research at the University of Maine at Augusta. Col Leclair served in the US Air Force for 20-years on active duty and currently serves as a volunteer in the US Air Force Auxiliary as a Search and Rescue / Disaster Recovery pilot. Dan is an active pilot in and for his community. He also volunteers with Patient Airlift Service to airlift patients from Maine to hospitals in the greater Boston area using his airplane. He graduated from the University of Maine at Augusta with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate as is also an FAA Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Remote Pilot. He and his family live in Minot Maine.
