Blue Marble Geographics will be hosting a free two-hour Introduction to Global Mapper and Working with LiDAR Data workshop on Monday, July 17 on the campus of the University of Maine, Presque Isle. Using publicly available LiDAR data and following a series of real-world scenarios in Global Mapper, this interactive class will explore the procedures for transforming raw point cloud data into a usable commodity for terrain analysis and feature extraction. Space is limited and registration is required.
Developed in Maine, Global Mapper has gained a worldwide following among GIS professionals because of its low cost, ease of use, interoperability, and powerful analysis capabilities, especially when working with LiDAR and other 3D datasets. During this workshop, we will introduce the core functionality of the software as well as the point cloud processing tools that are enabled with the supplementary LiDAR Module.
