  • Two Designers and one Model (either male or female)…  or

  • By July 8th, please inform Education Coordinator Kat Johnson of two works of art that have served as inspiration for the two garments
Arrive at the Fashion Challenge event on July 23rd by 5:00 p.m. with the two completed garments and your model. There will be no individual dressing areas back stage so please plan accordingly. Please make sure you cover up!

Models will take several strolls down the runway to display designs to judges and guests. UMMA will provide pre-determined upbeat music for all contestants. UMMA staff will direct fashion show and will specify line-up and when models and contestants are to walk.

Designs will be scored at the event by guest judges who will ask questions of the designers and/or model on each of the garments. Just like on Bravo’s Project Runway.

Guidelines for Garments:
  • Must be inspired by two different works from the Museum’s Collection or works currently hanging in the galleries (either permanent collection or the two featured summer exhibitions)
  • Be Creative. Be Cutting-Edge. Be innovative
  • Non-traditional materials are fine.
  • Designers create two garments: one casual & one evening/dressy/red carpet-worthy design
Our top two winners will receive gift certificates and bragging rights!
