What to do on a rainy Earth Day during April Vacation?
Students and adults from campus and community are invited to come together for a special program devoted to environmental ethics on Wednesday, April 22, at 4:00pm in Nutting Hall, Room 100, on the University of Maine campus.
"Thinking Like a Planet: The Land Ethic and the Earth Ethic"
will be presented by Baird Callicott, professor of philosophy at the University of North Texas. Callicott's work focuses on environmental ethics and philosophy, the philosophy of ecology and conservation, and climate ethics. His presentation, the John M. Rezendes Visiting Scholar in Ethics Lecture, is part of a series that was established at the University of Maine in 1999 for the purpose of engaging students, faculty, and community in considering ethical issues of importance. It is sponsored by The Honors College of The University of Maine.
Those who are intrigued by questions of environmental ethics and who wish to learn more about the nature of environmental thought are encouraged to attend! This is also a great way for students from OHS and OMS to discover one of the many opportunities for intellectual engagement that are available to them, just across the bridge on the University of Maine campus!
The program is free and open to the public.
