Announcement:  Opportunity to comment on the Maine Sea Grant College Program.

The University of Maine’s Sea Grant Program will be reviewed in October.  A review team organized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will visit campus October 7-8, 2014 to conduct a review of Maine Sea Grant management, institutional setting, and engagement of stakeholders.  This review, in combination with periodic reporting to the National Sea Grant College Program, will ultimately provide the basis for Maine Sea Grant’s rating in the Sea Grant network. The review also serves as a re-certification of the University of Maine’s “Sea Grant College” designation.

The five-member review team will be co-chaired by Chris Hayes of the National Sea Grant College Program and Richard Vortmann, a member of the National Sea Grant Advisory Board, former president of the San Diego, California-based National Steel and Shipbuilding Company and former vice president of General Dynamics Corporation.

Maine Sea Grant is one of 33 Sea Grant programs based in coastal and Great Lakes states supporting research, education and outreach programs to serve local, regional and national marine and coastal needs.

Written comments regarding Maine Sea Grant’s  performance in the areas of program management, institutional setting, and stakeholder engagement should be submitted to

Chris Hayes
