Vern Maxfield, Municipal Interest Seat

 

Vern has served in municipal government for 30 years having many positions including Planning Board Member, Town Clerk and Selectmen in Waterford Maine. He has served as the town manager of Woodstock since 1998. He has also served as Town Meeting Moderator in several towns for the last 20 years and is currently the Budget Committee Chairman in Norway. He has long had a keen interest in the stories maps can tell and looks forward to bringing the mapping needs of small communities to the Board. He and his wife live in Norway and have two married daughters and three grandchildren.

 

Aaron Weston, Public Interest Seat

Aaron is the Business Development Manager at CAI Technologies, a Littleton, NH firm providing over 400 local governments throughout the Northeast with GIS and mapping services.   Prior to joining CAI Technologies, he worked at the James W. Sewall Company as Geospatial Production Manager.  Aaron brings more than 18 years of mapping and GIS knowledge to the Geolibrary Board. As Business Development Manager, he combines his experience with excellent communication and consultative skills to design, plan, and execute projects to solve community-mapping needs. He has proven abilities and exceptional track record managing hundreds of different GIS projects ranging from Needs Assessments and GIS Implementations to Data Maintenance and Conversion projects.  Professional designations include Cadastral Mapping Specialist (CMS) designation from the International Association of Assessing Officers and GIS Professional (GISP) designation from the GIS Certification Institute.  Aaron is one of only 73 individuals worldwide who hold the CMS designation.

Jake Metzler, Environmental Interest Seat

Jake is the Forestland Stewardship Manager at the Forest Society of Maine (FSM), a statewide non-profit land trust, where he has worked for the last 9+ years.  In his current position, he is responsible for stewardship of conservation easements encompassing over 890,000 acres and multiple landowners. In addition, he provides geo-spatial support for other completed projects and new land conservation projects. In his role at FSM he has spent considerable time working to ensure the state’s conserved lands layer is as accurate as possible. Prior to joining the GeoLibrary board he served on the board of the Maine Forest and Logging Museum in Bradley (2011-2014), and has served on the Society of American Foresters Maine Division Executive Committee (2006-2010), where he served as Chair during 2009.  In 2010 he was awarded the Mollie Beattie Young Forester Leadership Award by the New England Society of American Foresters.  Jake is a graduate of the University of Maine with B.S. ('00) and M.S. ('04) degrees in Forestry. His master’s thesis focused on the use of satellite imagery to determine forest stand conditions in northern Maine. He is a SAF Certified Forester and Maine Licensed Intern Forester.

Patrick Cunningham, GISP, Municipal Interest Seat

Patrick is the President and CEO of Blue Marble Geographics, a worldwide industry leading GIS Software Company located in Gardiner, Maine. He will bring to the board his keen insight and understanding of community needs as a developer of low cost and easy to use software. Under his leadership, Blue Marble Geographics has received the TechMaine Governor’s Award for Tech Company of the Year and Directions Magazines recognition as Best Internet Map Service. He has been an active member of the Maine GIS Users Group serving as Vice Chair and Co-Chair of the Open Geospatial Data Quality Working Group. He is an active participant in his home town of Hallowell where he has been a Mayoral appointee to several committees.
