The Town of York, a coastal community comprised of the villages of Cape Neddick, York Harbor, York Village and York Beach, is accepting
applications for the position of Town Planner
The Town Planner is a highly responsible position performing advanced technical, professional, and administrative work in directing and administering the Town’s planning program. Under the general direction of the Community Development Director, the Town Planner
coordinates the Town’s short and long-range planning functions with both planning and regulatory responsibilities. This official acts as a technical advisor to the Planning Board and advises other staff and officials as required. The Town Planner coordinates
with professional, technical and clerical staff. Work is done with considerable independence and is evaluated by the Community Development Director through observation, reports, periodic written reviews, and results obtained.
Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Landscape Architecture, or closely related field with a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible municipal planning experience is required; Masters degree and AICP certification highly desirable.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable.
The position is a full-time, exempt, non-bargaining, position and will require attendance at regularly scheduled evening meetings as
well as periodic weekend work. Starting salary will be dependent upon experience and qualifications.
