Hi everyone,
After the 2011 “Lidar for the Northeast” was delivered, it was discovered that there were 3 ‘gaps’ in coverage between that data and the previous FEMA coastal lidar. We recently had the opportunity to get that rectified, via a joint project
with USGS. We were able to find in the original raw data that the aircraft had overflown these areas with the sensors still on, so all that was required was the processing. The 3 major ‘gaps’ were primarily in York, Biddeford, and Scarborough:
Before After
There were also 3 other very small areas where small portions of islands were missing in Swans Island, Frenchboro, and Cutler.
These data are now available. If you already have a copy of the “Lidar for the Northeast” data, you can simply download this as a single large zip file (950MB) and update your existing data with the redelivered tiles:
http://mapserver.maine.gov/lidar/slivers.zip
The .zip file will include LAS files, DEMs, and various supporting data. You can just overwrite your old tiles with these redelivered ones.
Also delivered was some more data for Isles of Shoals, for NH. While technically this area is not in Maine, if you are interested you can download those tiles here:
http://mapserver.maine.gov/lidar/ios.zip (75 MB).
Over the next two weeks MEGIS will incorporate these updates into our tiles available through the orthoviewer, WMS, and ArcSDE (state employees only) offerings.
