The Maine Office of GIS and the Maine GeoLibrary Board are pleased to announce the availability of new orthoimagery for Androscoggin, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Kennebec, and Knox Counties on the MEGIS Data Catalog (www.maine.gov/megis<http://www.maine.gov/megis>). This imagery was collected in Spring 2013 and comes in 3 resolutions, 3-inch (Lewiston/Auburn, Waterville, and Belfast), 6-inch (a number of communities), and 24-inch (everyone else) pixel resolution. The data are available with 4 bands including RBG and a near-IR band. The imagery is supported by State, Federal, County, and Municipal funding sources.

Like other orthoimagery data, we offer this as a public web-mapping service (WMS) and downloadable tiles (JPEG-2000 format). We recommend the WMS where internet connectivity can support it.

Coming up in 2014... 1/3 of Penobscot County, all of Hancock County, and ...?

Happy mapping!
