Register now for your spring 2014 courses. The spring 2014 page has been updated with a listing of Courses for Educators and a listing of the Wiscasset ITV offerings. Thanks for the tremendous support of this year’s pie sale! The pick-up date is Thursday, 11/21 at 1:30 pm. Thank you to Gwen Shatto for her masterful and creative leadership of this scholarship fundraiser.

Unwind at the Harvest Festival

A Harvest Festival will be held all day in the lobby on Thursday, 11/21. Meet Student Association members and enjoy cider and donuts with your colleagues. Fill out a survey form to enter to win a Student Association drawing for a Thanksgiving basket. The drawing will be held at noon on 11/21.

Strengthen your interviewing skills!

The UMA Career Development Center is offering a Successful Interviewing workshop on Thursday, 11/21, from 2-3:30pm. This workshop will show you how to best prepare yourself to ace the job interview. Please call University College (442-7736) for session sign-up.

Thanks to UMA faculty member, Brandon Lutterman, and his ART 100 students for warming up the lobby with a wonderful exhibit of their art work.

University College at Bath/Brunswick will be open on Wednesday, 11/27, from 8 am to 4 pm. The center will be closed for Thanksgiving on 11/28 and 11/29. Happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Support a beautiful center tradition!

Participate in the Giving Tree Lighting on Monday, 12/2, at noon in the lobby. Pick up a gift tag for the Salvation Army and help make a local child’s holiday happy! Hot chocolate and cookies and candy canes will be served.

Discover USM graduate options

Are you considering graduate school? Attend a USM graduate school information session  on Tuesday, 12/3, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at University College at Bath/Brunswick. Participants will learn about the variety of USM graduate certificates and masters programs available online, at the Center, and on campus.

Build community!

The next Student Association meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 12/4, from noon to 1 pm. All students are welcome to attend. Email Lisa Whitney by Tuesday morning, 12/3, if you plan to attend.

Feeling shaky about your APA citation skills?

Learn to cite with confidence at our upcoming APA citation Skills workshop with Off Campus Library Services Librarian, Shiva Darbandi on Wednesday 12/4 from 9-11 am. Please call University College (442-7736) for session sign-up.

Learn to start a business

Women, Work and Community is offering a  Basics of Starting a Business class that meets on 12/5 and 12/12 from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm This 9-hour class covers the basics of a business plan, marketing, cash planning and is suitable for those thinking about or in the early start-up phase of a new business. Learn more about local access to University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) health care related programs by attending a 12/12, 4 to 5 pm, information session. Topics include: Allied Health/Health Information Technology (AS), Nursing (RN to BSN), Healthcare Administration (BS), and Certificate in Healthcare Management. Do you know a talented Maine public high school or home-schooled junior or senior who would benefit from an early college course? Please help us raise aspirations by passing along new of our High School Aspirations program.

Get jabbed!

Help prevent the flu by getting your flu shot. Chans Home Health Care offers flu clinics through-out the region. All clinics are first-come, first-served. Vaccine is for anyone 6-months-of-age or older. Donations accepted, but not required.

Meet-up with a tutor

Set yourself up for a successful semester by connecting early in the semester with a Biology, Writing, Math, or Computing tutor.
