Scoop for Change!

Help raise funds for the Warm Thy Neighbor fuel assistance fund and indulge your sweet tooth. Gelato Fiasco is donating a 100% of any purchase made on Wednesday, 9/18 from 11 am to 11 pm. The only requirement is to show a copy of the red spoon on your phone or by printing the image.

Attend the UMA Convocation

On Friday, 9/20, at 3:00 to 4:30 pm on the Augusta Campus Green UMA will hold its annual Convocation, the university’s major academic event of the year. The theme is bioethics and the keynote speaker is Michael Grodin, Professor of Health Law, Bioethics and Human Rights at Boston University.

Go smoke-free!

The Midcoast Center for Higher Education is now a smoke-free environment. Smoking is permitted in your vehicle. Please remember to safely discard smoking material in your vehicle and not on the ground. If you are trying to quit smoking and need help, please call Stacey at the Midcoast Healthline, 373-6586. Complete a free career planning class online

The Maine Centers for Women, Work, and Community is offering a free online Career Planning: Find Your Place in Today’s Job Market class from 10/14 through 11/22. the registration deadline is 9/27.

Create your future

The Maine Centers for Women, Work, and Community is offering a 24-hour Creating Your Future: Career Planning for the New Economy class to examine work values and interests, identify transferable skills, and explore earning potential. Participants learn about local projected growth industries and identify the skills, education, and training needed to achieve your career goals. Assistance with resume building and job seeking will also be provided. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm beginning on 10/8. Use personality type to jump-start your career planning

A three-session Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Workshop will be held at the Midcoast Center for Higher Education on Tuesday, 10/22, Thursday, 10/24, and Tuesday, 10/29, from 2 to 3:30 pm. The workshop is designed to help an individual learn more about his or her personality and learning style, discover the role of personality in the career planning process, and explore the relationship between personality type and career satisfaction. The workshop is open to students and the public at no cost. Call 442-7736 for the required advance sign-up. Space is limited.
