Welcome to fall!

We are working to prepare the building for your return. Classes start on Tuesday 9/3 for all campuses except for UMF and UMFK which start on Wednesday, 9/4. Click here for the full academic calendar. Registration for all campuses is still open and ongoing. UMA does not offer student self-service course registration in MaineStreet because payment (full payment, first payment on a payment plan, financial aid or a third party) is required at the time of registration.

Contact us or stop-in for assistance

Center staff are available to assist this week with registration, payment and advising. The center is open until 4 pm this week. Our hours on Friday 8/30 are 11 am to 4 pm. We will be closed on Monday 9/2 in observance of Labor Day.

Grab a slice!

Please help yourself to a slice or two of pizza from The Cabin on 9/3, 9/4, and 9/5, delivered at 11:15 am or 5:15 pm courtesy of the Midcoast Center for Higher Education Student Association.

Please help us welcome our new staff members

We had an enormous change at the center with the departure of two long-time, veteran members of the staff, Arlene Smith and Doreen Sandelin. We are particularly grateful for the work and extra effort of our summer student office staff during this transition. A special thank you to Libby Poulin, Stephanie Whittingham, Donna Patrick, Joline Connolly-Allen and Julie Carleton. Newly hired over the summer are Administrative Specialists, Michelle Armes and Linda Arris. Please help us welcome Michelle and Linda to the center.

Make a difference!

The Student Association plays a vital role in bringing students together for educational, social and cultural events and building a strong sense of community at the center. SA officer elections will take place from 9/16 to 9/20 and the nomination petitions are due on 9/12 at 8 am. FMI: Lisa Whitney

Explore Self-Employment

The Maine Centers for Women Work and Community is offering a no-cost Introduction to Self-Employment workshop on Thursday, 9/5 from 10 am to noon. This session will help you decide if self-employment is the right choice for you. The class covers the pros and cons of owning your own business, the steps needed for start-up, the major elements of a business plan, and the many resources available to help you succeed. FMI or to register, please contact Jenn Dobransky.
