URock’s Holiday Hours

URock will be closed all day on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5.  Stay safe and enjoy the holiday!

Beware! Rte #1 Construction!

AS you have probably noticed, traffic around the Breakwater Building has gotten worse with construction. The main water pipe will be replaced between MacDonald’s and our building. Delayed traffic is expected. Our best advice is for you to avoid the intersection at MacDonald’s. Take Old County Road and approach URock from the north side of Rte #1 and enter the parking lot from Fales Street. Please allow extra time. Thanks for your patience with this process.

Upcoming Proctored Testing

If you need to take an exam other than during its regularly scheduled time, you will need to schedule your test through the URock front office. Our normal hours are Tuesdays at 8AM or Thursdays at 4PM.  Proctored testing will occur on Wednesday, July 3 at 4:00PM. A photo ID is required and, in many cases, instructor permission. Sorry but Friday testing is not available in the summer.

Rockland Adult Ed College Transitions Program July 15 – 18

This program running from 9:00AM to noon serves prospective university students who want to attend URock in the fall but who want some “brush up” help with math and language arts. Contact Rockland Adult Ed. for more info at 594-9764.

Registration Continues for Summer Session II and Fall Term

Registration continues for summer and fall classes. Dates for all the campuses are posted. Use the Distance Learning Class Search for the most comprehensive information about all UMS course offerings of all types at URock. Choose fall courses now with no payment or financial aid posted to save your seat in class! Remember to check your financial aid in Maine Street and adjust your credit hours based on what you expect to take each semester; otherwise, your aid will not post to your student account. For help with course selection, please set up an advising time through the [log in to unmask]">URock office.

Strengthen your Interviewing skills

Attend a “Successful Interviewing” workshop on Monday 7/15 from noon to 1:30 pm. This workshop will show you how to best prepare yourself to ace a job interview. Register for this session through the URock front office.

Need Tutoring This Summer?

Do you need extra support this summer in your course work?  Tutoring is available in some introductory level courses. Contact [log in to unmask]">Dagmar for more information.

Fall Math Boot Camp

Five Town CSD Adult Education will be returning to URock this fall for another round of Math Boot Camp. This is a fast paced and excellent math refresher designed for those of you who wish to score into 100-level math on the Accuplacer Placement Test. You must be willing to do weekly homework and to take quizzes. There is no charge for the course but you must pay a book fee of $25. Math Boot Camp will run Fridays, 9AM – Noon from September 13 through December 20. Interested students should email Deb Meehan for more info.

Please Pick Up Your Returned Spring Tests and Projects

Faculty have returned final papers and projects to the URock office. Please stop by and collect your graded work.

Drop In Technology Support – Mondays Noon – 1:00PM

Ask any of your technology questions at an informal drop in session in the computer lab every Monday from noon to 1:00PM. No question is too small or too big.  No need to register in advance.

Enjoy Our Picnic Tables by the Shore!

If the rain ever stops, we urge you to enjoy the view and cool breezes down at the shore at the URock picnic tables. There is a cigarette butt disposer by the tables. Please put all other trash in the dumpster.

File Your FAFSA!

There is still time to file your 2013 – 2014 FAFSA and receive aid for fall 2013 and spring 2014. For help, visit with our MEOC rep, Sally Daniels, on Mondays at URock. More info and Sally’s dates at URock listed here.

URock Sweats and Tees

We have just received a shipment of new URock sweatshirts, sweatpants, T-shirts, long sleeved shirts and more. There’s lots of new colors and designs. Check out the inventory.
