In the past, mapping needs could usually only be fulfilled by skilled mapping specialists using expensive software programs. Recently, free software and online mapping resources have become available that enable a large range of users to produce their own customized mapping products. This hands-on seminar is geared toward anyone who wishes to create customized, sharable maps regardless of their computer operating system. Attendees will be able to download online data to use in their maps, as well as make their own customizable map layers able to show images, graphs, hyperlinks and more. These maps can then be shared in a variety of ways (emails, social media, etc.) as well as be embedded directly into organizational or personal websites.
