So... Andrew, does this mean that the software is out of beta? Was there a change or edits since our beta release was installed two weeks ago? It seems to be running fine by the way, and fixed our 404 errors.

May we schedule Madawaska Middle/High's Joebox to be upgraded after school (3pm) on Thursday?

A few people have asked for details on what the new upgrade contains. Ihad thought there was a post on this list in the past covering that, however looking back I didn't find one so I'll cover it here. Themajority of changes center around MECguard, the web filtering component. This is a significant overhaul of that software, and the way HTTPSfiltering is handled is vastly improved, among other changes. Details ofthe changes to that component are available here:addition to the MECguard improvements, there are some kernel-level changesto improve performance for high-bandwidth and high-user-count sites. Finally, there are a few minor changes to the function of the userinterface to prevent firewall problems that some people were running into.
Overall these changes will primarily benefit sites who use MECguard forfiltering (which is the vast majority of Joebox users), however even sitesnot making use of MECguard will see stability and performanceimprovements, especially sites with a large number of hosts behind theJoebox. Moreover, all Joebox users will benefit from the modest UIchanges to improve stability. If you have any additional questionsregarding this update, please contact the helpdesk and we'd be happy toanswer them.
Thanks.
