*Degrees and Careers in Business with Tom Giordano Monday, March 18*

Join us for lunch and a discussion about UMA’s degrees in business plus
internship opportunities on Monday, March 18 from 11:30AM – 1:00PM.
Professor Tom Giordano and Business Internship Coordinator, Joyce
Shelleman, will visit URock for an informal discussion about program
requirements, career preparation and how to build in a meaningful
internship. Sign up at the URock front desk is encouraged but not required.

*MHHS Internship Fair–March 27 12-4 pm*

UROCK will be holding its first Mental Health and Human Services Volunteer
and Internship Job Fair on Wednesday, March 27 from 12-4 pm. This is a
great opportunity to meet reps from community agencies, to network and to
learn about internship placements in the community. Even if you are not
ready to enroll in your internship, this is a great way to meet providers
and to learn from them. Registration with the URock office encouraged but
not required. Refreshments will be provided!

*UMA’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) Program Info Session March 28*

Starting in the fall of 2013 students will be able to take all of the
required courses for UMA’s Associate of Science in Computer Information
Systems at URock in a face-to-face format. Join one of the most dynamic and
growing professional fields in Knox County. In addition, URock will sponsor
two CIS scholarships to new CIS admits for fall 2013. *Please attend a CIS
information session with faculty member, Mark Goodridge, and some current
CIS students on Thursday, March 28 at 3:00PM.* Registration at the URock
front desk is encouraged but not required.

*Hitting the Wall?  Need Emotional Support?*

Laura French <[log in to unmask]>, a graduate intern in the MS
Counseling Program from USM, is offering free one-on-one personal
counseling to URock students.  If you are overwhelmed by stress and
mid-term crises, consider contacting her for free counseling.  She has
openings, particularly in the evenings.

*Honors Program Information Session _ Friday, March 29 at Noon*

Join us for lunch and an overview of UMA’s Honors Program on Friday, March
29th at noon in room #414. Faculty member Jodi Williams will talk about
admission to the program and the benefits and fun of being a member. Please
join in even if you are just wanting to learn more. Others eligible to join
can pick up application materials. Those already members of the Honors
Program, please join us! Pre-registration encouraged but not necessary.

*Spring RaP Continues with Charlie Grunder on March 28 at Noon*

On Thursday, March 28 at noon Charlie Grunder <[log in to unmask]>,
Professor of Psychology, University of Maine at Augusta will present *Optimism,
Pessimism and Locus of Control: How Do They Affect Your Academics?
*Psychologists
study optimism versus pessimism and internal versus external locus of
control to predict how individuals respond to stressful events.  How can
this framework help predict who succeeds in school?  Professor of
Psychology Charles Grunder explores this question in regard to student
performance and concludes that prior GPA matters less than attributional
style in predicting good grades, the precursor to graduation and career
success.

The URock Student Association will sponsor a student ticket to see the HD
production of Great Expectations at the

a show at 1:00PM or 6:00PM on Tuesday, April 9. Please sign up for

*Leadership Conference for UMA Students*

Students are invited to the annual Leadership Conference on the UMA campus
on Saturday, April 20 from 9:00AM – 3:00PM. The keynote speaker will

*URock SA Elections*

Are you interested in being a student leader on the board of the Rockland
Student Association?  Nomination papers are hanging on Dagmar’s office
door. They are due back to the URock office by 5:00PM on March 29 with 15
URock student signatures in support of your nomination. Elections will be
held April 8 – 14 on Survey Monkey.

*Drop In technology Support – Thursdays from 12 noon – 1:30*

Speak up with any of your technology questions at an informal drop in
session in the computer lab every Thursday from noon to 1:30PM. No question
is too small or too big.  No need to register in advance.

The UMA Writing Center offers these and other tutoring services to distance
learners at UC by phone, email, and videochat. Work on campus or from home.

hours. Join a Google Hangout session with Writing Center Coordinator
