*Welcome Back! Classes Start Monday, January 14*

Classes start Monday, January 14. *Pay close attention to add-drop
dates*at all of the campuses where you are registered because they may
differ!
You must drop your classes through the URock office or the campus registrar.

*Welcome Back Food* will be supplied next week mid-day and early evening by
the URock Student Association. Fruits and snacks will be available
throughout the day.

*Writing Tutoring Center*

Need help creating a thesis, citing a source, or punctuating a sentence?
The UMA Writing Center offers these and other tutoring services to distance
learners at UC by phone, email, and videochat. Work on campus or from home.
Call (207) 621-3199 to access tutors Monday – Thursday, 9-4. Email
[log in to unmask] with an attached essay for feedback within 48
hours. Join a Google Hangout session with Writing Center Coordinator
Michelle Lisi, available by appointment every Friday this semester. Not
sure which method will work best for you? Get in touch, and we’ll set
something up!

*URock’s Math Boot Camp*

Are you trying to test into a higher level math? Do you need to retake the
math placement test? Ask Dagmar <[log in to unmask]> or
Deborah<[log in to unmask]>about the new, free Math Boot Camp
which will meet Friday mornings from 9AM
to noon at URock.

*Watch for Student Helpers!*

Each semester, URock hires students to be helpers with technology and all
other types of advice. Watch for those sit with a “Student Helper” sign.
Even if they wear earbuds and look busy, they are here to help you. Just
ask!

*Workshops from Women, Work & Community*

Women, Work and Community will offer two important learning opportunities
this winter at URock. On *Tuesday, January 15, from 10AM til noon you can
learn about SELF-EMPLOYMENT* and whether this is a good choice for
you.Examine the pros and cons of owning your own business, the major
elements of a business plan, and the many resources available to help you
succeed.

Learn how to prepare yourself for the upcoming tax season with a WWC
workshop called, *Tax Prep for the Self-Employed on Wednesday, February 13
from 10AM til noon*. Record keeping, small business tax obligations and IRS
tax forms required for sole proprietors will be covered.

*Get Involved at URock*

Research shows that students do academically better, enjoy college more and
take away a broader experience when they get involved in school outside of
the classroom. There are some good student organizations that could use
your help. The Student Association is the local group that sponsors
activities using your student activity fees. They invite you to be a member
of their board. Contact Brent Adams <[log in to unmask]> for more
info. In addition the URock Honors Program sponsors other types of
activities like Expressions Night and community service projects. For more
info on that one contact Richard Fortuna.

of student leaders!

*Photocopy Charges*

If you expect to be making a lot of photocopies in the spring term, you may
want to add money to your copy card.  Check out the instructions
