*Library Workshop Thursday at 2:00PM*

Ben Treat, University Librarian, will offer a workshop this Thursday,
October 11 at 2:00PM in the computer lab on maximizing the university’s
library services from a distance. If you do not yet have a library card,
Ben will sign you up. If you have a research project coming up, Ben will
help you get started using all the search tools available to you. Learn how
to access audio books and podcasts, too. The workshop is free and open to
students and faculty.

*URock Fall Colloquia Final Session with Kathleen Fox*

The final session in the Fall Rap Colloquia Series, “Culturally –
Appropriate Care: What the Youth are Saying” will be presented by Adjunct
Professor, Kathleen Fox, PhD on Thursday, October 18th from noon to 1:00PM.
Fox who is a professional researcher will lead a discussion on the results
of a study of mental health needs among Mohawk young adults of New York
State. Findings are that youth prefer their own traditions to current
“Evidence Based Treatment”, which they find to be stigmatizing and
irrelevant. All are invited.

*URock Student Association News*

*Coffee Cards:* The URock SA is sponsoring free coffee through Jensen’s
Pharmacy for students and faculty. Stop at the URock front office to get
your coffee card. Fill up your OWN coffee mug for free, or use a Jensen’s
cup for 50 cents. Present your coffee card to Jensen’s front counter every
time. There is a limit of 2 cups/per student/per day.

*PostSecret <http://www.postsecret.com/> Update*: If you signed up to
attend Frank Warren’s PostSecret Event in Augusta on Monday, October 15,
your tickets are here. Please stop by and pick them up.

*Fall Festival* – The URock SA is sponsoring free student tickets for fall
fun at Beth’s Farm in Warren on Saturday, Oct 20. Sign up at the URock
front office and enjoy tractor rides, cider and donuts, corn mazes and
more. Take family members along for just $5 each. URock students are free.

*URock Spirit Day October 15*

Get out your best URock fleeece, T-shirt, sweatshirt, sweatpants and more
and wear them to URock on Monday October 15. You will then be entered into
a drawing to win 2 free movie tickets.

*URock Welcomes Mobile Veterans Van*

On Wednesday, October 31, from 10AM to 1:30PM, URock will host the Mobile
Veterans’ Van in the Breakwater parking lot. This state of the art mobile
van houses expert staff and lots of ways to access veterans’ services.
Staff from the VA say the van travels around to help veterans “get the
benefits they deserve”. Please stop by and welcome them to Rockland.

*Cell Phones for Soldiers*

*Please donate your old cell phones to help our soldiers reach their loved
ones!*

Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit organization dedicated to
providing deployed and returning troops cost free methods to communicate
with family while serving in the United States military. Since 2004, *Cell
Phones for Soldiers* <http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/> has worked to
keep military families connected by providing free communication tools to
those serving overseas in the United States military. They have provided
troops with more than 2 million prepaid calling cards, equating to 114
million minutes of free talk time.

Used mobile phones from all service providers are accepted. The donated
cell phones are either recycled or refurbished. Each donated device will
provide troops with 2.5 hours of free talk time. A *donation box* is
available at the URock front desk. Thanks for your participation and for
sharing this information with others!

*Planning to Graduate from UMA in December?*

If you think you have met all graduation requirements to receive your
diploma in December, you can go go online and “Apply for
Graduation”<http://www.uma.edu/applicationforgraduationform.html>.
You will then be certified by the Registrar. Even if you complete your
requirements in December, you can still march at the formal event in May.

*Tutoring*

Do not let your classes get away from you! If you are struggling, check
with Dagmar <[log in to unmask]> or
Deborah<[log in to unmask]>about connections for tutoring.

*Fall Proctored Test Times*

This fall the URock proctored test times will be Tuesday at 8:00AM or
Fridays at 4:00PM. You must call the URock office to schedule your test so
that we have it ready for you. In some cases you will also need an email
permission from your faculty member so please get that ahead of time. Also,
remember that a photo ID is required in order for you to take a test.
