*Newsletter – September 24*

*URock Fall Colloquia Kicks Off October 1*

Monday, October 1, Noon to 1PM, *Shannon Kinney*, a national social media
resource with *DreamLocal Digital*, will speak on the changes in *social
media* sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn and how to
harness these changes to help build a successful professional presence
online. How is social media changing? How does the world find information
now — information about businesses and information about you? What is the
distinction between social media for personal use and social media for
professional use? How can you use social media to build a professional
identity and find a job? Kinney will answer these questions and facilitate
discussion in a one-hour presentation.

On Wednesday, October 3 from noon to 1:00PM, Associate Professor *Christine
LeGore* will review the book, *Mindsets*. Author Carol Dweck passionately
espouses the importance of believing in a “growth mindset” in teaching and
learning. After a brief presentation, we will consider the impact of
positive and negative messages on our mindsets and how faculty and students
might incorporate Dweck’s insights into our daily practices. People who
wish to attend this workshop might benefit from perusing the highly
informative website <http://www.mindsetonline.com>. There will be an
opportunity to take a related assessment quiz.

*MHHS Students – Learn about Internships!*

Dianne Carrick, Internship Coordinator for students in the MHHS Program,
will host a workshop on Monday, October 1 from Noon to 1:00PM. Learn all
about placement sites, application processes, requirements and more.

benefits they deserve”. Please stop by and welcome them to Rockland.
