On Friday, 2/10 from 4:00 to 6:45 pm there will be a special presentation by Jonathan Richards, Special Agent, Maine Drug Enforcement Administration on bath salts, a dangerous new drug that has reached epidemic proportions in Maine. This session is open to all students and to the community.

The Competitive Skills Scholarship helps workers learn new skills and succeed in a changing economy. The program is open to all income qualified Maine residents and pays for education and training for high-wage jobs in demand in Maine. The Competitive Skills Scholarship is open for applications from 2/1 through 2/15.

Our Midcoast Senior College “Winter Wisdom” lecture series on Wednesdays from 12:15 – 1:45 pm at the Curtis Memorial Library, Brunswick wraps up with two final lectures: 2/8, “Longfellow Days” and 2/15, “The DaPonte String Quartet – Sonata Allegro Form: Boy Meets Girl”. The free lectures are open to the public.

Learn budgeting skills!
Attend a Budgeting Basics Workshop on Thursday, 2/16, from 10 am to noon in Room 112. This is a no-cost workshop open to men and women and is sponsored by the Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community. FMI and required registration: [log in to unmask].
Take a break
Winter break is scheduled for the week of 2/20 for all campuses other than UM. The center will close on Monday 2/20 for the President’s Day holiday. Building hours will be Tuesday 2/21, 8 am to 6 pm; Wednesday 2/22, 8 am to 6:45 pm; Thursday 2/23, 8 am to 6:45 pm; Friday 2/24, 8 am to 5 pm.

The Student Association is sponsoring a wellness week beginning 2/27. Look for details regarding noon wellness presentations, resource information, useful web links, and healthy snacks.

Schedule an exam
Spring semester exam times have been revised to include: Tuesdays, 9:30 am and 5 pm; Wednesdays, noon; Thursdays, 6 pm; and Fridays 2:30 pm. Call 442-7736 to schedule a make-up or online class exam. You must be prepared to present photo identification for all make-up exams and on-site exams for online courses.
Build leadership skills this summer
The Maine New Leadership conference is a highly acclaimed residential training program provides public leadership education for college women. It will be held on the University of Maine at Orono campus from 6/1 to 6/6 and is designed to educate, empower and encourage participants to take on leadership roles.
