Welcome back and happy new year!

Spring semester classes begin on: Monday, 1/9: UM, UMA, Tuesday, 1/17: UMF, UMFK, UMPI, USM, Wednesday, 1/18: UMM. Check here for the spring 2012 academic calendar.

Get wise!

Check out our Midcoast Senior College “Winter Wisdom” lecture series on Wednesdays from 12:15 – 1:45 pm at the Curtis Memorial Library, Brunswick. The series kicks off on Wednesday, 1/11 with “Musical Spelling and Counting: A Guide to Composing by Numbers (and Letters).” On 1/18 the topic is “HIV AIDS: A Modern Plague”. The free lectures are held weekly through 2/15 and are open to the public.

Strengthen our community!

The Student Association works to create and maintain a strong sense of community at the center. All SA meetings are open to all students–please plan to attend the Wednesday, 1/11 SA meeting at noon. FMI: Lisa Whitney.

Honor Martin Luther King

On Monday, 1/16, University College is closed in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday.

Courtesy of the Student Association, delicious pizza from the Cabin will be provided in the lobby on 1/17, 1/18, and 1/19. Bring your appetite and enjoy socializing with your colleagues.

Celebrate peace!

Please join us on Friday, 1/20 at 5 pm. to celebrate the awarding of PeaceWorks third annual Peace Studies scholarship and to learn about the University of Maine Peace Studies program. The local group, Greater Brunswick PeaceWorks, has awarded the 2012 Peace Studies scholarship to Gwen Shatto. She will study Buddhism, Peace and Contemplative Traditions and will be honored at the event.

Dates at University College at Bath/Brunswick: 1/30, 2/6, & 2/27 from 2-4 pm. Sign-up required. Many additional locations and dates are available.
