Academic Advising

It is a busy time of year and URock is looking at more growth! If you cannot make an advising appointment that you have scheduled please call the office. It may be possible to switch the appointment to a phone appointment and get your questions answered, rather than to reschedule. There are many tricks to being successful academically. Check this link for more great tips and hints and answers to lots of basic questions.

Lots of Options in URock’s Room #409

With new colors, new furniture, a dedicated computer with wireless keyboard and Skype, URock’s room #409 has lots of new uses. It’s a great space for study groups, tutoring, Skyping with other students across the state, or preparing a Powerpoint in large scale format. The room may be reserved using Google calendar.

UMA Announces Convocation Theme

This year’s keynote speaker at UMA’s Convocation event will be Wonona Duke, an internationally renowned activist working on sustainable development and environmental justice. Ms. LaDuke is featured in the book, “Talking About a Revolution”. This book has been chosen by the Colloquium Committee as the work to be integrated into UMA’s curriculum this year.

Convocation will be held on the UMA campus on Friday, September 23 from 2:30 – 4:00pm.

NO Smoking Within 100 Feet

Please adhere to the policy of no smoking within 100 feet of the entrances to the Breakwater Building. Take advantage of the two new picnic tables on the waterfront and move away from the building when smoking. Thanks for your cooperation.

Be Wise & Lock Your Cars

Although URock and its surrounding areas are safe environments, there is an increase of reported property thefts in the mid-coast. Therefore, we advise that you lock your cars in the parking lot for added safety.

WWC Programming: Introduction to Self Employment

On Thursday, August 18th from 10AM – 12 noon, Women, Work & Community will host an introductory workshop for those deciding whether self-employment is the right choice. Bulletin Board for Internships and Job Openings

The bulletin board across from the URock front office has up to date listings of companies looking for interns as well as those seeking part-time and full-time employees. We try to keep the listings current so keep checking for new material.
