NO Smoking Within 100 Feet

Please adhere to the policy of no smoking within 100 feet of the entrances to the Breakwater Building. Take advantage of the two new picnic tables on the waterfront and move away from the building when smoking. Thanks for your cooperation.

Lock Your Cars!

Although URock and its surrounding areas are safe environments, there is an increase of reported property thefts in the mid-coast. Therefore, we advise that you lock your cars in the parking lot for added safety.

Thanks for Saving Electricity

Due to increased vigilance around the practice of turning off lights and unused electronic equipment (TV monitors, computers, etc.) we have seen a hefty decrease in the cost of our utilities this year. Thanks so much for helping us to conserve energy! Keep it up!

Summer Tutoring

Are you in need of some additional academic support for that math or science class over the summer? There is tutoring support available. Check in at the front office for information.

Financial Aid Rules & Changes in Satisfactory Academic Progress

Federal financial aid regulations changed related to satisfactory academic progress (SAP) which is required in order for you to continue to receive financial aid. The new policy discontinues the probationary period. Any student found to be out of compliance will have future financial aid suspended or not awarded. UMA’s Financial Aid Office is contacting students NOW via the Maine Street message center and written correspondence is also being sent to students who are out of federal compliance. If you are affected because your SAP has dropped below an acceptable level, you have only 14 days from notification to appeal this decision. Appeals are based on extenuating circumstances that impacted your ability to meet SAP. Pay attention to all e-mails, message center notifications, and letters sent to you. Take responsibility to be informed. If you are worried talk with Bev or Deb.
