New Summer Course Added

A new videoconference upper level class was just added to the Rockland schedule today! SOC 370, Sociology of Culture is now available in Rockland in the first summer session on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 – 3:45PM. This course explores the nature and sources of cultural differences, with a focus on cross-cultural comparisons. Students will examine the content of culture, the production and distribution of cultural content, and the role of culture in shaping social institutions. Emphasis will be placed on relating these sociological phenomena to everyday life and evaluating competing explanations for how and why cultures differ. Prerequisites: SOC 101 or SSC 100. The course will be taught by new sociology full-time faculty member, Lorien Lake-Corral.

Summer Session Opens Next Week

Click here for URock course listings for summer and fall. Please review course information online as we will not print a lot of course guides (budget savings!). This is a good time to schedule an advising appointment before classes fill. For summer registration you must either make a payment or have financial aid posted and confirmed by staff. Fall registration is available through self-service. (See notes on financial aid below as to how to get your summer aid posted.)

URock Apparel

Now you can order URock apparel online with our logo and the clothes (T-shirts, sweats, etc.) will be hand delivered to you at URock.

Financial Aid Update

If you applied for financial aid through the University of Maine at Augusta, your financial aid award for fall and spring is now posted in Maine Street. You may view and accept your aid package now. Please note that your aid has been awarded based on full time enrollment (4 courses or 12 credits). If you plan to attend half or three quarters time you may change your attendance under the student enrollment hyperlink. If you plan to attend in the summer, indicate your summer plans under student enrollment and then continue to monitor Maine Street for your summer aid posting.

If you qualify for work study, contact Althea to discuss opportunities.

If you have not yet completed your FAFSA for the next academic year, it is not too late. Please go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov to file.

Maine Street Down June 2 – 7

The Maine Street Student Information System will be unavailable from 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 2nd until 8:00 AM, Tuesday, June 7th for a software upgrade. This means Student Self-Service (online enrollment, payments, grades…) and Faculty Self- Service (online grading…) will be unavailable.
