Expressions Night on Friday!

Share your amazing talents with your fellow students on Friday, February 25th at 5:30PM. All types of personal expression are welcome. Read poetry, stories, spoken work, exhibit your art, perform a favorite character, reveal your inner rockster, mime, sing, or throw in a new and novel idea! Think of it as an open-mic night. (Shhh…acts will include a performance by faculty members Potter, Moro and Vail!) To sign up to perform at this event, email Mary Lynch at [log in to unmask].

This UROCK Expressions Night will be dedicated to the memory of student Joshua Bowen, who thrived in the performing arts. Donations are appreciated but not necessary for the American Heart Association and/or the Make a Wish Foundation.

Maine NEW Leadership Summer Conference

Maine NEW Leadership is a six-day, residential training program, offered at no charge each June to undergraduate college women. Established in response to the reality that women are significantly under-represented in legislatures, both nationally and in Maine, NEW Leadership encourages and teaches women how to become effective leaders. Research suggests that women are less likely than men to consider themselves qualified to run for office or to be encouraged to run for office. Maine NEW Leadership provides role models and mentors who are having a positive impact on women’s political interest.

This year’s conference will be held June 2 – 7 at the University of Maine at Orono. For more information and application materials, see Bev or Deb at URock.
