Beat the winter blues by firing up a pot of chili and entering the Student Association’s First Annual Chili Cookoff! The competition is at high noon on the Ides of March (3/15). FMI.

Build your leadership confidence!

Plan to attend the annual UMA Leadership Conference Saturday 3/19 from 9 am to 3 pm, on the Augusta campus. This year’s theme is “Lead, Follow or Get out of the Way!” Free to all UMA students and $30.00 for guests. FMI: Laurie Murphy.

Celebrate International Women’s Day

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day (3/8) is: “Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women.” Be sure to add your comments to the International Women’s Day lobby display created by Stephanie Burns.

Are you leaving money on the table? If you earned under $50,000 last year, you can find out if you qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit and get your taxes prepared for free through the Midcoast Creating Assets, Savings & Hope (CA$H) Coalition. Tax prep is offered on different dates throughout our region including: University College at Bath/Brunswick, Thursdays from 4-7 pm., 3/17. Call 319-1390 for an appointment.

Gain the skills and confidence you need to stretch your money, pay your bills, reduce your debt, find money for savings, & set personal financial goals. Financing Your Future, is a no cost workshop offered by Women, Work and Community on Fridays, 3/25 through 4/22, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. FMI or to pre-register email Shelley Taylor or call 386-1664.

Want to start your own business? Apply for Women, Work and Community’s New Ventures Business Planning Course. This no cost course meets Wednesdays, 3/30 through 6/15 from 9 am-2:30 pm. Topics include: customer, competition, marketing, record keeping, taxes, financing, & legal considerations. The required orientation session is: 3/23 from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
