Hi Laura -

There are a couple of features that I would miss if I used Google Maps, rather than Google Earth:

1.  I use nested folders in Google Earth to keep it organized.  For instance, I might create a book folder that contains folders for each chapter of the book.  Within the chapter folders, I add the markers and paths.

2.  The paths in Google Earth show the total distance in the sidebar so it's easier to see.  You don't have to actually click on the path icon to see the distance.

3.  I like seeing the title of the place markers and paths on the map...you might be able to do that in Google Maps, but I don't know how.

On the other hand, being able to use Rich Text in Google Maps is awesome.  Much easier than learning a bunch of html.
