Annual URock Ice Skating Party - THIS Sat. March 6th

The URock Student Association has booked Saturday, March 6, from 6:00 -
8:00PM for the URock annual ice skating party at Mid-Coast Recreation on
Route 90.  This is a great, free event for students and their families.
Skate rentals are free.  Save the date! Not to be missed!

Chili Cook Off A Big Success!

Last Friday's Chili Cook Off was a great success thanks to efforts by URock
Honors students and its Student Association. Thanks to Sam Grinnell for his
great live music. Congratulations to UMA MLT student, Lizza Doyle, who won
the Mexican Sombrero with a medium spiced “3-Bean Meat Chili”.  The event
raised $500 for Haitian relief c/o Partners in Health.

Summer and Fall Registration Dates

UMA registration for summer and fall classes will open April 12th for degree
candidates. Open registration for non-degree candidates will open April
14th. Students may begin to create a wish list of courses from March 23 to
April 9. Tentative course schedules are beginning to appear in the Maine
Street Distance Learning Portal as well as on the URock web site. See the
site for other campus' registration dates, too.

Meet Leonard, McAleer & Szakas: Friday Program Information Series

On 3 Fridays in March from 10 - 11:00AM we will have academic program
information sessions so you can ask questions and have informal discussions
with faculty in your program area.  On Friday, March 5, Dean Grace Leonard
will discuss the Mental Health and Human Service Program requirements and
career opportunities.  On March 12 Brenda McAleer will discuss all aspects
of the buiness administration program and finally on March 19, Joe Szakas
will discuss computer information systems and career outlooks in that area.
This is a great opportunity for direct contact with these important people!

UMA Scholarship Application Deadline Approaching

Students taking University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) courses at URock are
invited to apply for UMA’s 2010-2011 general scholarships. The application
deadline is March 5. All scholarships require a minimum Cumulative Grade
Point Average of 2.0. Scholarships are awarded in April or May for the
upcoming academic year. Interested individuals may view available
scholarships and download the application form HERE .

White Board Math Tutoring

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-4 PM, UMA is offering White Board
Tutoring.  UMA math students (at a home or center computer) and the Math
Tutor (in the Math Lab at 192 Jewett Hall) will share the same White Board
and can both control the "pen" to work out math problems.  Contact Judith

Where Can I Study??

Sometimes the lounge areas at URock get crowded.  Remember that you can use
the computer lab for studying, or any unoccupied classroom. Check with the
front desk and they will tell you which rooms are free.

Maya Angelou - Free Ticket for UMA Students!

Tickets are now on sale for the Maya Angelou event at the Augusta Civic
Center on April 26 at 7:00PM. All Rockland students get ONE free ticket.
This event is sponsored by the Augusta Student Government Association. Email
your name, campus or center location, with MAYA TICKET in the subject line
to UMA student life at [log in to unmask] Tickets will be sent to the
Rockland Center for pick up March of 2010.

Guest tickets (non-students) are available for $25.

Apply for May Graduation

If you expect to graduate from UMA in May then you must APPLY for
graduation.  That will trigger the Registrar to certify your academic record
and which indicates you have completed all program requirements.  Go to the
