The Maine Municipal Association is holding its annual Technology Conference
on March 11th at the Augusta Civic Center.

Programs will focus on several technological issues facing municipalities.

The Opening General Session entitled "Planning for an IT Disaster - A Guide
for Local Government" will be followed later in the day by a panel
comprised of municipal IT Directors to discuss "Surviving Electronic
Disaster" at the local government level.

Another exciting program offering is "Internet Streaming and Video on
Demand for Municipal Meetings". Find out what is available for options and
how it's done.

Also covered during the conference will be:

*   Regulatory Aspects of Electronic Communications and Record-Keeping
*   Social Software in Government
*   Accepting Credit Card Payments for Taxes and Fees

GIS Track focusing on Municipal Issues

We have a GIS track being hosted by the Maine GIS User Group focusing on
municipal GIS issues - shoreland zoning, vernal pools, water quality
projects, local data use, linking parcels to deeds, town planning, and more.

The luncheon speaker also has a GIS slant with the topic "Readying
Municipalities for the Future with Spatial Technology."

Certified Maine Assessors: The conference has been approved for up to 6 re-certification credits. All GIS
programs approved and others if appropriate.
