Tomorrow at
5PM we will be updating the NAIP 2007 web mapping service (for more detail
see http://www.maine.gov/geolibrary/wms.htm).
This update provides better color-balanced imagery and better spatial
accuracy. The new imagery is based on the updated county mosaics released
by NRCS last Fall.
We also have added
another zoom layer to the service. As NAIP 2007 was the very first WMS we
prepared, it was a learning experience and we have since learned that another
overview level increases the performance of the service. However, this
means existing documents you have will need to remove and re-add the service for
it to work right. If you do not, the 10-meter and 100-meter overviews that
it used to have will no longer be there (they are replaced with 5m, 25m, and
125m. All of our other services are overviewed in multipliers of 5, so
this also will bring NAIP 2007 in line with the others.
The solution is
simply to remove the NAIP 2007 from your map or Google Earth project and add it
again. The LYR and KML files will be updated on the WMS web page at the
same time tomorrow.
No other web
services will be affected.
