Hi everyone, it's important to take an active part in the quality of spatial data. Firstly, regarding the acreage computations in SHOREZONE_IWWH see this note from Don Katnik: People are sometimes confused when the acreage field does equal the value you get from Shape.Area because they don't realize that the acreage doesn't include the 250 ft upland zone or, for Shoreland Zoning, forested wetland acres. It's in the attribute metadata. From the metadata for Shorezone_Iwwh: Attribute Label: SZ_WtlndAc Attribute Definition: Wetland acreage based on shoreland zoning definition (does not include forested wetlands or upland zone) Secondly if errors are found rather than emailing them around on a listserv, I think the better approach is to contact the data administrator as listed in the metadata. In this case it is Don Katnik at IF&W. 941-4455 or donald.katnik(at)maine.gov. ********** Michael Smith State GIS Manager Maine Office of GIS ________________________________ From: Katnik, Donald Sent: Monday, June 22, 2009 12:36 PM To: Smith, Michael Subject: RE: Maine Office of GIS Updates, 6/22/09 Forward this from the metadata for Shorezone_Iwwh: Attribute Label: SZ_WtlndAc Attribute Definition: Wetland acreage based on shoreland zoning definition (does not include forested wetlands or upland zone) ------------------------------------------ Donald Katnik, Habitat Group Leader Maine Dept. The files are different. Also, you need to troubleshoot the shorezone_iwwh before you publish...don't just drop it into your Shoreland zoning map without checking the acreage field, etc. -JTL Jonathan T.
