Augusta and parts of the surrounding towns had the same work done - 2 foot contours via LiDAR.  The data has been submitted to MEGIS and is expected to be available soon.

Subject: 2 foot contours for southern maine coast

Hello all,

I just received notice that MEGIS has obtained and posted for download some large scale (2’ interval) topographic contour data for a number of towns.  The data was received from FEMA.  I thought this information was worthy of passing along on the GeoLibrary-L even if some of you may get the MEGIS notice separately as this is an exciting data availability announcement.

Here’s a data intro from the metadata:

Description:

Abstract:

CONTOURS_2FT contains 2 foot interval contour lines for the coastal areas of York and Cumberland Counties from Old Orchard Beach to Harpswell. The contour lines were one of several data sets created from LiDAR collected in November 2006 by the Sanborn Map Company.

Purpose:

The Contours were originally derived from the LiDAR data sets, including Bare Earth and a Gridded DEM support Camp Dresser and McKee's continued development of updated Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps and flood insurance studies for coastal areas located in Cumberland and York Counties, Maine. The contours were created primarily for determining areas of potential flooding. They are also useful to determine drainage, for hydrology studies, for determining slope and for delineating watersheds.

See below for the towns:

CONTOURS_2FT (2 foot contours) have been ADDED to the MEGIS internet Data Catalog for parts of the following towns:  Bath, Brunswick, Cape Elizabeth, Chebeague Island, Cumberland, Durham, Falmouth, Freeport, Harpswell, Long Island, Old Orchard Beach, Phippsburg, Portland, Saco, Scarborough, South Portland, Topsham, West Bath, and Yarmouth.
