Thanks Gretchen for the kind reply - this will be good - possibly fantastic! Please be sure to post a note and link here on the listserv once the portal is up. Is this the link to what you referred to: http://www.maine.gov/geolib/geoportal.htm for more information

I'd like to see the (blank) metadata form that folks will be required to submit with their contributions... hopefully there'll be a section that pertains to surveyed elements.

Kelly

Hi Kelly and all,

Other GeoLibrary Board members, please chime in-

The GeoLibrary Board is nearing completion of the implementation of a data portal.  This will be a one-stop access point for GIS data in Maine.  The portal will be open to data contributions from the state, local gov't, natural resource groups, private industry, educational institutions, and any other groups that wish to contribute data.  The submission would require metadata that would be approved before the data are actually published on the portal.  We hope that this will help to alleviate data-finding headaches.  If a direct download isn't available, the portal would provide an external link or contact information for where one can find the needed information if it's been submitted to the portal as being available somewhere.

The GeoLibrary is also working on an Integrated Land Records project that would help to link deed information to digital parcel files.

For more information on these projects, please visit the GeoLibrary's website athttp://www.maine.gov/geolib/

Thanks,
~G
