Volunteers Needed! New England Wild Flower Society is currently seeking Maine applicants for a plant conservation program called the Plant Conservation Volunteer Program (PCV). The PCV Program puts the skills of amateur botanists to work relocating and collecting data on populations of rare plants throughout New England. The information collected by the PCV Program is given to the Maine Natural Areas Program to help redefine the conservation status of plant species. As a PCV, you will also be able to go on field trips to botanically interesting natural areas, take courses to further their botanical knowledge, and participate in habitat management projects. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the flora of New England and to meet adventurous people who share your interests in plants and the natural world! Qualifications. We are looking for people who have some botanical training, a commitment to conservation, good observation skills, a sense of adventure, and a few spare days during the field season, from May to October. Volunteers will need to arrange their own transportation. How To Apply. If you are interested in participating, please send us an application, which can be downloaded from our website at www.newfs.org. If you have any questions or would like to request an application via email or regular mail, please contact: Ailene Kane PCV Program Administrative Coordinator New England Wild Flower Society 180 Hemenway Road Framingham, MA 01701 Phone: (508)-877-7630 ext. 3204 Email: [log in to unmask] Training Session. All new volunteers must attend this training session to participate in the program in 2005. Thank you very much for your interest in the Plant Conservation Volunteer program-we look forward to receiving your application!
