It’s not just about “making the drive” it’s about getting tickets.  Since the Alfond is not almost 100% season ticket seats it is much more difficult to get a ticket.  There are only so many seats at the Alfond.  And if you want to see a BIG game you can pretty much forget getting a ticket.

Anyone know what the actual season ticket seat percentage is?

I am a Maine grad who lives in southern Maine.  I personally don’t believe that they should play home games outside of Orono.  If I want to see them play, I can make the trek up, watch a game and got to Pat’s.  The Nebraska Cornhuskers don’t play a football game in Kearney or Omaha.  Notre Dame doesn’t play home games where a bunch of grads live they play in South Bend and the alumni show up from hundreds of miles around.  The University of North Dakota doesn’t play in Minot just so some grads can watch the game.  If you want to see the Black Bears play, make the drive or make the drive to one of the Boston area schools and support them on the road.  I think the Cumberland County games are ridiculous.

i'm sure the place would sell out but there is one thing the cccc doesn't have that the alfond does...a balcony with a bunch of loud students with viking helmets that have a strainer or 2 taped to it screaming like they just saw the new hiddeous bananas that makes visitin goalie wonder why they chose college hockey over backgammon...

Could you imagine this weekend series scenario:

No. Dakota v. Maine -

Game 1: Friday night, Orono
Game 2: Sunday afternoon, Portland

Do ya think that second game would be a tough ticket also ?

As for Portland: I'm for two, how about you ?
