"Northern Maine"? Actually Orono is in the southern half of the state.
Millinocket is about the half way point. :-)

And I suspect that Grant is not only very good at recognizing talent but in
evaluating players' attitudes etc. so as to put effort into recruiting kids
that are going to be a good match with the Maine program physically,
mentally, and emotionally. I'm sure that Grant must be of inestimable
importance to the program!

When we lost Shawn, as hard as that was, it was comforting to me to know
that Grant was still there.

Like your post said, we northern tier schools have a
tough recruiting time. Grant has done just what he
needs to do to remedy this.

I just read an article about his Canadian recruitment.
He knows there is loads and loads of talent up there,
and is very successful in letting them know that there
is a great school just south of them that will give
them scholarships and let them live in the same sort
of place where they grew up. Which seems really
important to the Canadian population. They seem to
like to stay in surroundings that are very similar to
theirs. What better place than Northern Maine which
many call Southern Canada anyway! :-)
